Somos una asociación civil sin ánimo de lucro con el reconocimiento de donataria autorizada. Estamos registrados ante la SECIHTI: RENIECyT # 1901319. Somos parte de la Organización de Estaciones Biológicas de Campo (OBFS). CICHAZ USA es organización hermana con sede en Estados Unidos y también es una organización sin ánimo de lucro (corporación 501(c) 3).

El CICHAZ se ubica a mil metros de altura en la Sierra Huasteca, en la “peninsula” más norteña del bosque mésico neotropical, en la vertiente este de la Sierra Madre Oriental. Nos ubiacamos en una región biodiversa dentro de un país megadiverso, que cuenta con más de 450 especies de aves y más de 540 de plantas endémicas, de las cuales al menos 13 están bajo algún riesgo de extinción.

La estación de campo es un centro tanto para investigaciones científicas naturales como sociales; nos esforzamos en fomentar el trabajo integrador y colaborativo interdisciplinario (ver Investigación). 

El CICHAZ también busca oportunidades para poder involucrarse con la comunidad a través de actividades de alcance comunitario con enfásis en la educación y el aprovechamiento de los recursos naturales.

We are a non-profit civil association recognized as an authorized donor. We are registered with the SECIHTI (Spanish Securities and Exchange Commission): RENIECyT # 1901319. We are part of the Organization of Biological Field Stations (OBFS). CICHAZ USA is a sister organization based in the United States and is also a non-profit organization (501(c)(3) corporation).

CICHAZ is located at 1000 m above sea level in the Sierra Huasteca in the northernmost   “peninsula” of mesic Neotropical forest on the easternmost slope of the Sierra Madre Oriental. We are in a biodiverse region of a megadiverse country, boasting over 450 bird species and more than 540 species of plant endemics, including at least 13 in some category of extinction risk.

The field station is a center for both social and natural science research and strives to foster integrative, collaborative work across disciplines (see Research). 

CICHAZ also looks for opportunities to get involved with the community through Outreach Activities, with a particular focus on education and natural resources.
